PICTURES: The definitive RI post a picture of your dag thread

My dag has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer and liver disease! Turns 12 in August. Absolutely gutted I am, he is like my little shadow and follows me everywhere. Early days yet so vet has just given us pills and potions for now but it is going to be a very sad day when he does go. :(

Sorry to hear that mate but I'm sure he's had a great 12 years of being a big part of your family. We have a couple of lesbians living a few doors away (seriously, I can guarantee you 100% you wouldn't) who have a dag called Snoopy who was diagnosed with a form of cancer 8 months ago. He was given maybe a month or two back then and the little bugger is still as good as ever going out every day and appears to be unaware he's got anything wrong with him, and he's 17 years old!!!!!

Anyhow I wish him well and the good thing is they don't worry about things like illness like we do. As long as they're able to eat and play they're happy. Not a bad life when you think about it.

I've posted this before but I'll post it again. This is a video about our dag Jake who passed away a few years back. The pictures were taken a few months before he went and remind me how he enjoyed 'laughing' in the sunshine at the park.

Just to clarify two points. One, he was very big due to a medical condition and to a much lesser extent possibly eating too much. Two, I am not contrary to how it looks having sex with him halfway through the video but merely pretending to sit on his back. These issues caused a bit of controversy in previous threads :)

Watch out for those vets. They are all money grabbing twats. They don't seem to care if they have to put your dag through unessesery (sp) pain as long as there's money in it.

Tbh when our Jake got cancer and his back legs were going our vet could have made a lot more money offering treatments etc. Instead she explained at his age and condition the kindest course of action was to put him to sleep rather than treat the cancer. Of course be alert, but don't think them all bad.

I'd agree with this. Like all professions there will be good and bad people. My experience with them has been fine.

Just uploaded this to youtube. Our little Lita running around the park playing football. She absolutely loves it even at the age of 10.

Well that's a surprise. Mine was still not himself this morning. Mrs took him to the Vets; turns out he's got heatstroke. Mild, but enough to upset him. We thought that it was flies upsetting him as he started trembling when they got in the house. Good job she took him really.

Got a right issue with mine at the moment:he's terrified of flies. Nothing exotic. Just your common house-fly/Bluebottle. Humid and close out = bad person leaves open windows = fly enters the relative cool of the house - it's happened since man lived in a cave this phenomenon; pleas to keep closed the windows fall on deaf ears = return home to trembling and traumatised Jack Russell. He hates them. Happened last Summer. I can't weigh it up; this is a dag who climbs big hills in blizzards and -8c without even wearing pants; what's a fly to him? I think one dive-bombed him when he was a puppy and it's stuck in his mind.

Sad to see him like this; very sad to see,

Gaffer tape these to your dags front paws and he'll never be scared of an airborne assailant again.

Wow, that would have been my second guess had you asked me again this morning. Once again there's no need to thank me. it's a gift I just love to share

Main thing is the little chap will get better now, keep us informed. Mine loves to sunbathe, will keep an eye on her more in future.

Like the vet said; imaging having a fur coat on that you can't take off in this humidity. Quite a shock. He'll not be having a walk until it cools down a lot. I thought I did everything right with him as well, plenty of water, wet towels to cool him, shade where we can etc. He's thick-set, and Irish, so is always hot anyway. Might shave him.

Edit: he hasn't worn one of his jackets in months either.

Much better today. He had a good night; much more like himself.

We think one of the contributors is his coat. The Vet suggested a Furminator. I bought one yesterday. Just a quick brush has brought a load of his undercoat off. Reading about it; his coat doesn't shed naturally, the old hair stays underneath. He'll be getting a real go at the weekend. Nothing will come off on the scale of this though http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/8775/banditfurm.jpg

Miko was a ridiculously cute puppy. :o

Time for another dag thread

I know we only had one last week, but you would have to agree that this is a very well trained dag:

A fine looking little creature. I had a Yorkshire Terrier when I was a child called Cinders, a wonderful dag. Even though she had to be put to sleep over 30 years ago through Liver problems, I still have a framed picture of her in my house today.

thought this was a dag thread:confused:

Don't call my family on here unless you want a dig.

Cheers! Rip Cinders :(

Cookie is a little cracker only £200 from some shit hole I went to up near the Reebok. Flat out on my legs now as I took her out before she's a bit mad though if I try to hug the wife or kids she goes mental.

I don't know if other yorkies are so jealous of their master showing affection to others.

By any chance, were the two girls Uncle Herpes linked up earlier your sisters?

Can't remember Cinders going mad but as a kid I didn't have girls hugging me, my mum did but the dag seemed fine with that. Our current dag however can get very jelous when Mrs Bone starts to give me a hug. She'll try squeezing inbetween us (the dag that is) as if to say "what about me" but is never aggressive about it. If Mrs Bone tries sitting on my knee the dag always joins in often beating Mrs Bone to it.

Rosie our newest addition , rescue dag, she was used as a breeding machine but is doing great now

What a lovely collection of dags who all look really happy and well cared for, lovely to see a family like that

Joe the (standard) poodle.

Shit name (sort of a rescue. Great dag, as are all standards.

Impeccable. Lovely coat; looks an outdoor type; rugged and adventurous.

Loves the moors. Was timid to begin with tbh but has got more confident. Still a bit of a pain in the arse to get across a decent stream. But nothing a Jaffa cake won't solve. :D

Getting on a bit though. Starting to just stop near the end of a long walk. Going to get stuck up a mountain soon with her refusing to budge.

This picture of Joe really made me chuckle for some reason, no offence but he looks like a muppet on this shot. Wonderful looking chap :)

Good to hear. She'll keep going, as they do; getting on a bit doesn't hold them back :D

Can't believe it's been nearly 6 years since we lost our Jake. Our little Lita is still going strong at 12 years old though

Here's our lad doing what he does.

He will be 9 in May but he's 9 months in his head. Always happy and excitable and he loves people but he's not bothered by other do gs, mainly because he knows that do gs don't have pockets full of treats.
