CLASSIC: i want to execute a tropical fish

My missus unplugged the heater on my tank on Friday and didn't plug it back in.

The water went cold.

Now 2 days later half my fish are dead and the rest have a horrible disease known as "Ich" to the experience aquarist and "White Spot" to the numpties.

I am inconsolable.

If anyone has any homeless fish I will be glad to give them a spot in my tank once I have cured the rest of measles.

Sorry to hear about the Ich as well as the loss of fishes, hope it clears up soon :)

I went and got some medicine yesterday. It finished off my catfish. :(

The rest seem to have improved though.

It was all so avoidable.

I know how she did it. Rushing around she pulled the heater out instead of the filter (plugs are identical) when she fed them which she did by just lifting up the flap and dropping the food not noticing the water stilling coming out the filter.

When she went back 5 minutes later she saw the water running so assumed I'd plugged it back and just left it. 4 hours it was off but enough to let the water drop from 26 degrees to room temperature.

And she wants to get a cat and have kids

Hope the rest of the fishes pull through okay. Have you seen the Marina Aquaminder? Apart from a digital thermometer and reminders for scheduled maintenance it has a hi - low audible temperature alarm which might help prevent it happening again.
