Just put him in a bucket of ice water. He'll just kind of freeze to death and it's not that traumatic.

Mate, I had a similar problem with a vicious rabbit a while back. It made weird noises, attacked its hutchmate a fair bit and went for me whenever I tried to move it from its run back into its hutch and vice versa. One night it took a bite out of my wrist. Any deeper and it could've severed that main artery there and I could've been a gonner - what a way to go that would've been! After that we had to get rid. Tempted just to take a shovel to it but just found a secluded spot near some woods and let the fucker go. It probably ended up as dinner for some baby owls or something.

I dont think that you have given us enough information. Perhaps the fish was abused when it was little , or came from a deprived pet shop's fish tank?

Is it the only one of its type in the tank? perhaps it is looking for a mate? If you were banged up in a glass tank, with no pussy, and an ugly bastard staring in at you from time to time ,you would get a bit moody too. You should determine its gender and find a partner for it.

Gay fish tanks are a no no of course.

but if you are their god then surely everything you created was good ?
and you created them with free will ?
to experience whatever they now choose to experience ?
if they kill each other, thats part of the range of possibilities you allowed
if they get cocky and aggressive then you created that too

I couldn't be arsed reading every post in the thread, so if the devil-fish is still alive have a look on here http://www.fishforums.net/ You will find some discussion on humane euthanasia, or better still you might find someone who will take him off your hands. If you've done him in already R.I.P little fishy :D
