I have read somewhere that masks are more useful for flu. Certainly social distancing measures would make a difference. But I can't find anything particularly helpful.

because it's a load of horseshit, the government were telling people they could use old t-shirts for a mask and was only mandated several months into the year after inside supply deals were all sorted. Thousands of shipping containers sat around full of PPE for months afterwards, after PPE providers were completely ignored in April. Respiratory illness masks require proper fitting, no beards and frequent changing. Most people were walking around pulling shitty rags out of their pockets and holding them against their face for hours in some cases and this was supposed to reduce respiratory infection?
 

The main KC doesn’t even know what quality adjusted life years are, so he can hardly ask serious questions about the relative costs of lockdown. The inquiry has been framed around lockdown timings not their utility and has also been obsessed with nonsense re Cummings, Hancock etc. Given we’ve no idea of the nature of the next pandemic and its level of lethality, I’m not sure how robust any conclusions can be in terms of a guide to future action.
 
Fear controls, just what the government wanted, and it seems the hypnosis is still working on some.

Maybe next time.

It’s easy chucking emojis out on this thread but there doesn’t seem the same appetite on the Covid thread for some reason? If it’s all conspiracy then I’d have thought that some of the clever clog types who pop up on here would be all over the links on there but noooo.

I think lessons will eventually be learnt, ego prevents admittance until the evidence is overwhelming, which is what is going to happen.

Who's ultimately responsible though? Whoever controls Government, Government of all colours(no opposition), media.

All should and will be held accountable.

It's not a conspiracy. It's the WHO's solution to the inability of countries to adequately coordinate efforts. Its probably misplaced, but it's not the WHO's job to be nice.

Is it dictating? It is the de facto world health coordinating authority. It's role is to propose these regulations as mandated by the UN.

I think there's a bit of over-reach in what it's trying to do, and it will get reigned in, but it's downfall we certainly do not need.

It's all degrees, not all one thing or a other.

Maybe the precautions being taken were very effective against flu, something many people were already vaccinated against and other would have had some natural immunity, but less so against covid.

Like I said, things are very rarely black and white.

Must admit I’m surprised that MBR hasn’t jumped on it given he sees himself as the arbiter of truth on Covid.

I’m not arguing against any of that but you can’t dismiss the damage these jabs have had just because it doesn’t suit. Like I said have a trip over to the other thread and have a read.

Loudly announced but ultimately performative lawsuits aren't remotely a new thing. I wouldn't be shouting about any of these until they've got past the first couple of hurdles.

Like who? The vast majority didn’t need it but were coerced into having it for work or playing out.

How so? Yes, some places mandated it for work (mostly health/social care) but relatively very few. Virtually nowhere in terms of UK leisure venues wouldn't let you in if you couldn't prove you were vaccinated. Yes, some countries mandated it for travel purposes but unless you had to travel internationally on business then you always had the choice to forgo or limit your overseas holiday destination choices. So for the majority of people it was a choice with little to no genuine hardship if they decided against vaccination.

I had to prove my vaccination status exactly zero times for as long as the 'covid passport' thing was around. This is also true of a great many people I know, and almost all of the exceptions to this would be people who showed it once or twice to get into foreign countries.

100% correct, I was one of those NHS workers prepared to walk away from my job after our CEO said Mandatory Vaccinations were going to be a thing, as were a few others in my team.

The notion that during a public health crisis you sack healthcare workers, those very workers who'd worked all throughout sans vaccine and proper PPE is laughable and an indictment on the brains of those in charge in this country, and frankly those who followed them blindly.

Like I said a huge percentage of people, especially the young, had to have them to have their holibobs which is clearly important to most people. Add on the claim that they were safe and effective then it was job done. Also the pressure put on the “ selfish” unjabbed by the media was relentless , encouraged the jabbed to blame the unjabbed for their freedoms not returning. My mates wife lost her job of 25 years from a care home because she wouldn’t be bullied into it, young lads in our football team were ‘ encouraged’ to do the same.
 
Just remember one thing, a mandate is not a law so nobody had to take any notice of it, the majority did it out of fear propagated by your own government with the help of the crooked media, your own British government did this with no opposition whatsoever.
