The Covid enquiry.

The gargantuan fucking bellend.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...on-asked-scientists-about-video-says-cummings

The stupid cunt acted just like Trump - thinking he could ignore all the scientific and medical experts and ‘beat’ the disease with his ‘own’ ideas.

And when I say his own ‘ideas’, I mean the thick cunt actually typed into Google “how do you cure Covid’

This witless cunt ACTUALLY made it to P.M. Akin to a novelty act winning X Facor and then cleaning up at the Grammies…

David Cameron works for US biotech firm Illumina. Cameron contacted Matt Hancock for a contract through the VIP PPE lane. Illumina were given a £123m NHS contract without any checks.

Bet this, and the £14.9bn PPE Fraud won't come up at the Covid Enquiry.

Perfectly normal behavior.

Sunak is in bed with Moderna too, conflicts of interest all round. They’re all just a bunch of lying piss takers now, wouldn’t believe a word any of them say.

The impact of locking down will be far and way be worse in the longer term than the disease itself.

It has fucked up the public finances, education, cancer diagnosis rates and mental health.

Those who will blame the government for that will conveniently forget that they were the ones pushing for stronger, faster and longer lockdowns.

The Government at the time were weak at the time as I suspect that locking down went against their instincts and instead we got a halfway house that was the worst of both worlds.

Though when you had the opposition and sections of the press effectively calling them murderers at the time, they were caught between a rock and a hard place.

The debate at the time was toxic and surrounded by hysteria.

Oh and forgive me if I take what Dominic Cummings says with a pinch of salt as well as the reporting what he says. He went from villain to hero in the eyes of many because he left the government rather duplicitously. There has never been any objectivity around that man from the press.

Agree with this bit & made the point at the time. What would you prefer, death, or death by 1000 cuts.

Psychologically, as humans, we couldn’t possibly accept doing nothing though & ‘getting it over with quickly’ & the media furore & headlines & cameras showing people dying in hospital corridors would have been horrendous compared to 1918 & the Spanish Flu for instance, which was actually worse than Covid because of the lower ages of death imo.

So no government could have survived doing nothing as they would have been labelled a heinous bunch of bastards but the irony is the Tories won’t survive after actually doing *something*, albeit half arsed.

We all know they are guilty skip the trial and send them to the Tower to hang

The impact of the lockdowns will be worse than the impact of covid, but only because we implemented the lock downs. Had we not the impact of covid would have been far worse, including its impact on the economy and education, and health care would have been catastrophic.

So should we expect to be in this position again? Have safeguards been put in place to improve our ability to cope ? Can’t see any more future lockdowns being adhered to or people rolling their sleeves up so readily again.

Probably, in another 100 years or so.

We'll all be plugged directly into the Metaverse by then anyway so I wouldn't worry about it :D

I would hope lessons have been learnt and that we have a more nuanced plan, or indeed any fucking plan, than we had last time.
You're probably right about that, that's when natural selection will take over :D

100 years? They’re already banging on about the next one. We could easily have had some nuance last time especially after Omicron but there’s no money in that.

Doing nothing would have resulted in hundreds of thousands more deaths, not one single political party advocated doing nothing.

The enquiry clearly shows alot of fuck ups, even the science initially was based upon herd immunity which was reckless and resulted in alot more deaths.

I think you're forgetting who was making, or rather not making, the decisions.

Yes and agree on your first and last points.

For the middle one, not nearly enough although I think work has gone on regarding production capacity for vaccines and diagnostics. But no closer tot he effective track and trace systems that will make all the difference.

Have to say, of all the things I expected to fall out of the enquiry, Peter Reid calling out Dominic Cummings on Twitter and asking for a meet up was pretty low down the list

A large majority went about their normal lives, working and what not, i was in london and the tube was still busy

But that wasn't true, during the lockdowns to surpress the virus use of all transport types reduced dramatically, so your attempt at rewriting history is just blatant lies.

The purpose of the inquiry IS to learn the lessons. Sadly, the chances of any useful action being taken are slim as it will all degenerate into political grandstanding.

Your final point is absolutely accurate, but was the case from the second lockdown in 2020 anyway, because we're a country of twats, as well as being "led" by twats.

The key error in my opinion was not to treat it as a "war" - bring the other parties in, get everyone on the same page and cut out all the political stuff for the good of all. Admittedly no other country did it (that I know of), but it feels like it would have given this country a better chance.

I did think the same for a long time but no longer sure tbh. It is obvious now that the Government was a bunch of incompetents and egos not suited to deal with this crisis and completely dysfunctional as a group. Inserting opposition MPs into this may have only added to the chaos, and putting them in the position of going along with it all, or calling it out and being accused of making political capital. Complete clusterfuck either way I suspect as soon as this particular group of scheming, corrupt, moronic and narcissistic politicians wre put into office.

Sadly, nothing will come of this enquiry;

The politicians are covering their arses for their fuck ups.
The scientists as covering their arses for their fuck ups.
The Civil Service never takes responsibility for anything, it's in their employee handbook.
The Health Service always has to have the truth dragged out of it and I see little evidence of that here.

God knows how anyone draws any conclusions from any of the lies and deflections.

Absolutely.

I don't know, I was on a site that shut down for a couple of days then reopened because the news was showing loads of people on the tube going to work.

Some people, maybe But to say a "large majority" is pure bullshit.

Sites got priority for the available materials so they were open fairly quickly, I was on jobs after 10 days when people realised that they still wanted their projects done. I think those that that had the luxury of working from home or got most of their wages for doing fuck all encouraged the narrative of locking down.

Yep and that group of cunts was put there as they were loyal Johnson/Brexit loons. Any Tory MPs with any decency or intellect (yes there were some) were either shoved out or left of their own accord as there was no place for them in that government. Then the pandemic came along:o

Yes we were on a small site (10 plots) so it wasn't as strict as would've been on a big site. I was lucky enough to work all through lockdown. I kept thinking I was going to get pulled over on the way to work and sent home by the police :D

A fair proportion of Tube and other public transport users in London came from key workers who had to travel to central London from outer suburbs because they can no longer afford to live in London.

Can't argue against any of that, tbf.

Oh dear, not looking good for dear old Rishi.

Vallance said it was Rishi Sunak, then the Chancellor, who had not looked "terribly pleased" when he suggested locking down London.

A later diary entry noted Sunak suggesting it was about "handling the scientists" rather than handling the virus.

Then there's Eat Out to Help Out.

For the first time, we saw a (very brief) extract from Sunak's written evidence, in which he said he "didn't recall" any concerns being raised about his flagship scheme.

In the very last words spoken before the inquiry broke for lunch though, Vallance said he'd be "very surprised if any minister didn't understand that these openings carried risk".

I'm sure his opinions will appeal to some of the more hard of thinking amongst the general public, but on the whole I don't think this is going to do much for his desired image of competence.

He's had his 15 minutes of fame and it's not as good as he thought it was going to be.

I think he'll be glad when it's all over.

Nero fiddled while rome burned.
That oaf should have been mentally examined before he got the job as PM. Clearly mentally unstable. Absolutely frightening.

Said it for years - lazy beyond words, zero motivation beyond his own base needs (money, fame and willing women to impregnate) and plenty suggesting a drink problem too.

Presumably the latter is part of his Churchill role play fantasy. It'd be nice if all this nips his dreams of also returning to #10 crumble, but you never know with this Conservative party, or voting public.

Not true at all mate. The first 3 months of lockdown was like a ghost town on the rail network and tube network down here.

Sunak the little slimy lying cunt.

"I don't recall any objections from the Scientists when I announced the Eat out to Help out".

Well that's hardly surprising when they knew nothing about it, you did it off your own bat you twat, and more people fucking died.

And the rest.

Had to go to his house in 2006 for work purposes.

I thought he had a hole in his roof and the snow had got in.
